I think the upgrade didn’t worked properly. Did you try to install it again ?

You can send me an email (support) and I’ll send you the unzipped SysEx file.
Maybe the file was corrupted during the download.

The new firmware for BIM is written, I just need to test it intensively.
It will be posted on the SUPPORT page with the instructions on thursday or friday.

The features of this new revision are now definitive :
    – 2 new FXs : Reverse and Thru (input gain, filters and 12-bit conversion but without delay)
    – TAP tempo display on or off (setting kept on memory)
    – Improvement of the accuracy of TAP tempo, MIDI beat clock and FREEZE. Now FREEZE is almost always in sync (with the technology used in BIM it’s not possible to get FREEZE perfectly synced for a long time, but it’s far better than before). FREEZE was not designed to be a looper, so don’t expect to have a synced loop for 3 minutes !
    – Bug fix : Spillover and Aux mode were not working well, espcially after changing the ACTIVE mode parameter or after a preset load
    – Bug fix : The TAP switch was not working in “TAP to LFO” or “TAP to Both” modes
    – Bug fix : “LFO Division” was not working after a change in setting. Needed to tap the tempo again
    – Bug fix : on early BIM units, the delay was out of sync for a short time after a stop and play.

    Hi,
About the FREEZE issue : it seems to be ok with TAP but I also have the issue with MIDI clock. I’ll check that today (I’m finishing the firmware right now).
About panning : I guess that in Prophet-6 (or in a delay plugin with a pan pot) the delay unit “knows” that the input signal is panned left or right because it’s in the same machine. To implement that in BIM, the machine should be able to recognize that the signal is only on the left or on the right channel, which is quite complicated for BIM, sorry ! BIM is mostly a hardwired analog processor, digital is only here for the 12-bit AD & DA conversion and the RAM.
I should release the BIM upgrade this week.

    Hi,
Which serial number is your BIM ?
Did you try monitor “off” on the MIDI track on Live ?
What happens if you select only the CC filter (the first switch is lit and the three other are blinking) ?
Do you have an external MIDI controller or a keyboard that can send CC to test if it works ?

    Hi,
I have reserved time in february (before working on new OTO products!) for new firmware for BIM and BAM.
These revisions will be mostly bug fixes, and the one described in the OTO forum will be taken into account.
Sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience !

    Hi to all,
BOUM will be released in early april. Price is 462.50 EUR (excl. VAT).
All our resellers will have stock in april and some have already open the pre-orders.
We’ll also accept pre-orders from next week through our online shop.
We have updated the informations about BOUM on the product page, we should post the first audio demos next week, hopefully.
    Thanks for your patience !

The compressor is based on a VCA slightly un-biased in order to add a small amount of 2nd Harmonic distortion. Not inspired by any classic compressor, even if all VCA based compressor look quite the same.
I wanted something very simple to use, with only one pot covering the most 3 main settings of a VCA compressor : threshold, ratio and makeup gain. The sidechain has a special filtering that attenuate the compression in the low frequencies and enhance compression in the high frequencies. It helps to give to the BOUM compressor its particular sound.
The distortion stages and the Hi Cut filter are not inspired by any existing products. But the SQUARE distortion mode is inspired by a unique Fuzz effect schematic from the late 70s that used a comparator circuit instead of a classic high gain saturated amplifier. I really loved the sound of this effect, so I have added it to BOUM !

    Hi,
Yes, an “interest list” is a good idea, thanks !

If we want to release a new batch of Biscuit, we have to re-design it because of obsolete components, need to improve the manufacturing process and so on. We’ll also need to order some parts in large quantities (keyboard, power supplies, packaging…).
So we’ll start a new design only if we are sure we’ll sell enough Biscuits to pay all the extra costs. The original Biscuit was quite expensive to build, and we didn’t make many money from this product, even if we sold near 2000 units !

So maybe a new batch of Biscuit should be a new Biscuit : same signal path (8-bit converters, filter…) and sound, but extended features. Like more delay time, possibility to have 2 FXs at the same time, bypass of the 8-bit section, more presets memories, LCD screen…and possibly cheaper than the original one !

We’ll start an interest list in january. Maybe a simple email query, or a forum topic ?

    Hi everybody,
Sorry for the long silence, we were very busy these last weeks.
Unfortunately we still don’t have a release date for BOUM yet !
    There’s 2 reasons for that :
1/ Next year we’ll work with a new factory in west of France, with a better manufacturing quality and shorter production delays. We had to set up all the production, testing and assembly line for BOUM, but also for next batches of BIM and BAM. It took time to do so, but we are now ready to start the production of all our products in january 2018 !
2/ Since 6 months now, there’s a world severe electronic components shortage. Instead of few suppliers the factory had to work with, buyers now need to buy components in smaller quantities from many more wholesalers.
Lead time deliveries for these electronic components are then getting longer and longer.
Everything seems to be ok for us. All the necessary components are ordered now, but the factory still don’t know when they will be delivered. We hope to have this information before the end of the year, and then we’ll be able to give you a release date.
We hope to have BOUM ready in february.
Sorry again for the long wait, and thanks for your patience !

    Hi to all,
I’m really sorry for the late answer. I agree it’s useless to create a forum if we never answer to it !
We have changed few things with the forum, and we now receive an alert when there’s a new post.
So we should be more responsive in the future.
Sorry again, OTO is a small 2 people company, and time passes very quickly !
About BAM, we’ll add this week a bug list and the latest revision with the upgrade procedure on the support page. I’ll check the mix bug when loading presets (maybe linked to the AUX mode) and let you know.
    All the best,
    Denis

    Hi,
Thanks to all for your encouraging words !
This week we’ll finalize the order of the first batch of BOUM with the electronics factory.
We should know the price and an estimated release date in the next days.

The specs are almost definitive :

    Pots :
    – One knob compressor (Threshold, Ration and Make-up Gain on one pot) from no compression to negative ratios Mid position is a limiter (inf:1), max is something like 0.1:1
    – Drive : Gain after the compressor, from 0 db to 60 dB, depending on the “disto” setting
    – Filter : 12dB/Oct., non-resonant Hi-Cut filter from 50Hz to 20kHz
    – Level

    Parameters :
    – Input Gain : 0, +6, +12 and +18 dB
    – Attack and release (6 parameter each). The first attack setting is quasi-instant
    – Lo Cut filter : 6dB/Oct. Flat, 75Hz, 150Hz, 300Hz
    – Disto : Boost (soft clipper), Tube (well, an emulation!), Fuzz and Square (called a comparator distortion)
    – Gate : Noise gate, from “No” to “-10db” (to create gated effects)

BOUM is 100% analog unit (even the side-chain) but will be MIDI controllable.
    All the best,
    Denis

    Hi,
Biscuit needs a 9 volts power supply with an AC output, and not DC like the standard power supply adapters.
The specs of the Biscuit’s power adapter are :

Out : 9 volts AC output – 0.5 Amps (500 mA) or more – 2.1 mm round plug

You can buy this kind of power adapter in electronic stores or on eBay.
We can also sell you one. You can send us an email for pricing with shipping costs.

    Bonjour,
    Cordialement,
    Denis

    Hi,
It seems to be a bug.
Do you use BAM with the Active “AUX” setting and/or preset “LOCAL” on ?
    All the best,
    Denis
